Her works are free from deliberate carving, only the silent resonance between the soul and nature. Every hue is drawn from snow-capped mountains and the sky; every stroke bears piety and peace. Her creation is not confined to forms. The depth of oil painting, the ethereality of ink wash, and the authenticity of materials all become her language to express the spirit of Xizang. Kuan Ta Cai Rang · Artist Profile

Kuan Ta Cai Rang, of Tu ethnicity, was born in 2000 in Wutun Xiazhuang Village, Tongren City, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province — the world-renowned Hometown of Regong Art, a sacred land where Thangka creation has been passed down through generations for hundreds of years. Even in his infancy, he was immersed in the faint fragrance of mineral pigments and the whispers of sacred scriptures. The solemnity and sanctity of Thangka art have long been woven into his blood, becoming an inseparable part of his life. At a young age, he first studied the *Sutra of Buddha Image Measurement* with his father, refining the canonical standards of Buddha imagery and the original intention of creation stroke by stroke. Later, he became a disciple of Xia Wuta, a Master of Arts and Crafts of Qinghai Province, officially embarking on the path of spiritual practice through Thangka art. From that moment on, he forged an eternal bond with this thousand-year-old intangible cultural heritage. Endowed with extraordinary insight, he holds an innate empathy and perception for Thangka art. With his sincere devotion to this craft and exceptional artistic talent, he revealed his outstanding edge at an early age. *Maitreya Buddha*, a work created alongside his mentor, won the First Prize in the 3rd "Plateau Star" Art Competition of Western China. Many of his other works, including *Amitabha's Pure Land*, *Eight Horse God of Wealth*, *Six-Armed Dharmapala*, and *Yamantaka*, are renowned for their rigorous brushwork and solemn artistic conception, earning high acclaim across Tibetan regions and collection circles at home and abroad. Having devoted himself to Thangka creation for decades, he is now a member of the Qinghai Regong Art Association. He always treats every stroke with reverence, polishing his skills and refining his original intention through ascetic and dedicated creation. Over the years, he has received numerous honors yet never wavered from his original aspiration: in 2012, he was awarded the title of "Home of Regong Artists"; in 2018, he won the First Prize in Group A of the 4th China Regong Thangka Painting Competition, and in the same year, was granted the honorary title of State-Level Master of Arts and Crafts upon approval of the Huangnan Prefecture Master of Arts and Crafts Evaluation Committee; in 2020, he was selected as one of the first batch of outstanding Regong art artists for the "Regong Yishuo International Cultural Communication Information Platform Construction" project, and completed systematic training with full qualification at the Regong Artists Training Course in the same year; in November 2023, he was officially awarded the honorary title of "Second-Class Folk Craftsman of Qinghai Province". With the wholehearted guidance of his mentor and decades of dedicated practice, he has not only preserved the most orthodox canonical standards and cultural context of Regong Thangka, but also developed a unique artistic expression rooted in tradition. He has always firmly believed that there is no shortcut on the path of art. So-called talent is never the root of achievement. Only with a pious heart, sincere love for art, the endurance for loneliness, the perseverance to uphold one's original intention, unceasing dedication, and the courage to break through, can one grasp the true meaning of art. This life creed has supported him to walk firmly and without slacking on the long and arduous path of artistic practice. The Thangka heritage of Wutun Xiazhuang Village has been passed down on this plateau land for hundreds of years. It is an artistic treasure left by ancestors to future generations, and a spiritual gift from the Eastern snowlands to the world. As a young inheritor of this thousand-year-old craft, he always upholds the consciousness and responsibility of a heritage keeper. Taking the brush as his medium and the heart as his ruler, he guards the flame of Regong art with stunning Thangka works, letting this sacred art hidden in the plateau cross mountains and seas, to be seen by the world, and cherished by time.
